A Force for Good
Unity of Vancouver donates to the below organizations on an ongoing basis in a commitment to give back and serve our local community. To learn more about our international outreach efforts, visit our Hunger Project page.
Vancouver Covenant House supports at-risk youth experiencing homeless and on Vancouver’s streets and helps give them a fresh start. Through relentless support, unconditional love, and absolute respect, the Covenant House’s Outreach team helps support some of the most vulnerable people in Vancouver through the organization's coordinated and all encompassing services. Thanks to Covenant House, young people always have a place to stay and encouragement from an extended family that genuinely cares.
The Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre provides a safe, non-judgmental environment for women from all walks of life, who live and/or work in the Downtown Eastside. The high levels of violence, homelessness, addiction, and poverty that characterize Vancouver’s DTES make women and children particularly vulnerable to exploitation, injustice and injury. The Centre helps these women through a supportive environment, providing meals, counselling, advocacy and programs which nurture and empower their members.
The Vancouver food bank provides healthy food for those in need and works towards building healthy communities and fair and effective food systems. Helping over 8,500 families every month across Vancouver, Burnaby, New Westminster, and the North Shore, the Vancouver Food bank helps a broad spectrum of people in need. Through the help of their 90 community agency partners, the Food Bank supports housing agencies, shelters, and after-school programs and distributes 5 million pounds of food each year substantially reducing hunger in the Vancouver Lower Mainland.
